Hanuman Garhi is well-known temple located in the city Ayodhya. According to legend, when Lord Ram decided to leave the world and enter the Sarayu River, he entrusted Hanuman with the responsibility of taking care of Ayodhya. Hanuman choose to sit on a hill from where he could watch over the town. The Hanuman Garhi temple is believed to have been built at the spot where Hanuman sits guarding Ayodhya.

Sita Ki Rasoi

Sita ki Rasoi, located on the northwest border of the Ram Janmabhoomi in Rajkot, Ayodhya, is claimed to be a historic kitchen used by the goddess Sita. This sacred location is now a temple that houses certain display vessels. It was built near the Ram Janmabhoomi. This Sita Ki Rasoi is a subterranean kitchen, and it is one of the two kitchens honoured in Sita’s name.

Kanak Bhawan

One of Ayodhya's best and most well-known temples, Kanak Bhawan, is thought to have been given to Sita by Kaikei soon after her nuptials to Ram. Sita and Ram's private palace is located here

Gulab Bari

It is the mausoleum of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, the third Nawab of Oudh (now Awadh). The actual tomb is in the middle of a Charbagh Garden, which also features modest water channels and fountains. The structure is allegedly connected to a boali (stepwell) in Lucknow and served as a haven for the Nawab's heirs.

Ayodhya is situated on the banks of the Saryu River. Saryu, also called Sarju, is an integral part of the story of Ramayana. Like every city sacred city located on the banks of a river, there are ghats with stories. A board at Guptar Ghat tells the story of the Saryu River that originates from Lake Mansarovar in the Himalayas and soon after Ayodhya merges with the mighty Ganga.

Nageshwarnath Temple


The Nageshwarnath Temple in Ayodhya is situated right next to the Theri Bazaar. This temple was built in honour of Lord Nageshwarnath by Son of Ram-Kusha. Worshipers visit this temple in large number during the festivals of Mahashivaratri and Trayodashi.


Treta Ke Thakur

The Treta Ke Thakur Temple is situated in Ayodhya’s Naya Ghat neighbourhood. This temple is home to several idols, including representations of Lord Ram, Laxman, Hanuman, Sita, Bharat, and Sugreev. It is reported that each of these figures were carved from a single piece of black sandstone.
